Title: The Veronica We Know and Love (or Not)
Author: jacedesbff
Pairing/Character: Veronica; L/V
Word Count: 1000+
Rating: Strong PG-13
Summary: What if Veronica were just a *teensy* bit different from the V that we know?
Spoilers: “Cheaty, Cheaty, Bang, Bang” is referenced; I would recommend general knowledge of the show.
Disclaimer: Rob Thomas owns all. [Jerk that he is.]

A/N: Written for the "5 Things That Never Happened" challenge at "5 Things That": http://community.livejournal.com/5thingsthat/.

This is *so* not my usual Fluffy McFlufferton kinda thing. I got thinking about "5 things that the Veronica we know would *never* do" and it just went from there. Some of them are definitely crack!fic (notably the psycho stalker one.) But hey, I didn’t even do the one where she was a voodoo priestess, so *some* restraint was used!

As a note, the mods at 5ThingsThat have asked that we include one of their banners. I love the banners and highly recommend checking them out, but heck if I know how to add it on! Sadness. ::laughs::. Go check out the site, though, it's a blast!

Veronica watched as Logan dribbled the ball down the court. In the corner of her eye, she saw Madison give the signal for “Let’s Go!” and she joined in with the rest of the cheerleaders as she watched Logan pass the ball to Wallace, get it back and go up for a jump shot. Score!

“Yay, Logan!” Veronica did a flying toe-touch in the air and wildly waved her pom-poms as she came down.

As the Neptune High basketball team jogged down to the other end of the court, Logan threw his girlfriend a look. Veronica knew what that look meant. She was *so* going commando to the after-party.

Veronica knew something was up when she saw the crowd around the flagpole. There was a black kid that she didn’t recognize tied up to said flagpole in the buff with the word “snitch” written across his chest—it was even spelled wrong.

Veronica sighed. She knew what that was like. Well, not literally, but she knew what it was like to be hated and laughed at. She wished that she had the courage to cut the poor guy down, but that just wasn’t going to happen. Her goal in life was to go unnoticed, to encounter as little emotional torment as possible between now and graduation, at which time she would burn rubber out of Neptune and forever leave behind the hell that was her existence here.

Veronica couldn’t help the new kid, but she didn’t have to make it worse, either. She kept on walking.

Veronica lay at the edge of the wooded area, her nightscope trained on the couple engaged in illicit activities in the SUV. Once she discovered that Kendall and Logan were carrying on an affair, she had begun following them to discern their routine. Every few nights they drove his Xterra to this very secluded spot and enjoyed themselves a little something-something.

Veronica wasn’t having that.

It was bad enough that her dad had made her break up with Logan. It was completely unacceptable that Logan had told her he wouldn’t go out with her behind her father’s back. She had told him that she didn’t care what her dad said, that she loved him and that they needed to be together. He had told her that he loved her too much to destroy her relationship with her father and he had stuck to his guns.

Like hell.

He was going to learn—if she couldn’t have him, no one could. Least of all Mrs. Richard Casablancas. Slut.

Veronica took aim again through her nightscope. She squeezed the trigger.

Perfect shot.

Once again, Logan was hers and hers alone.

They found her the next morning, curled into a ball in the corner of the room. Her panties were under the bed, which showed evidence of having been the scene of a sexual encounter.

Someone finally thought to call her father, who came to get her. He took her straight to the hospital, but she continued to stare at something that she alone could see, lost in a world that existed only in her mind.

A world from which she never returned.

Veronica was tired of being dull, of being soft pink, light blue, pale lavender. She had tried to spice things up with Duncan but it hadn’t gone nearly as well as she had hoped. He was even duller than she was. Lame.

Then she had had that dream, that really exciting dream, the dream that was better than any reality she had ever lived. That’s when she knew. She wanted her life to be like her dream and not like her reality. So was going to change it. Of course, that was going to involve the whole “he was her best friend’s boyfriend” thing, but hell, she had to be true to her dream. Might as well do it right. Besides which, Lilly was a slut. It was about time she got a taste of her own medicine. Veronica knocked on Logan’s bedroom door.

“Mom?” she heard his familiar voice call from inside.

“No, Logan, I’m not your mother,” she said dryly. Oh, this was going to be fun.

A moment passed. The door opened. “Veronica?” He looked at her outfit and did a double-take. “Veronica?” His tone went from curious to shocked. Veronica showing up at his bedroom door was unexpected enough, her showing up in a black leather miniskirt with a mesh and leather top that was balancing a very thin line between sexy and bondage went beyond unexpected into “I’ve fallen into an alternate universe and the pigs have had liftoff” territory.

Veronica pushed Logan away from the door and shut the door behind her with a high-heeled boot-covered foot. She backed him onto the bed, onto which he sat heavily, trying to reorient the world that he had known a few seconds ago with the one currently moving to straddle him.

“Logan,” Veronica purred as she made herself comfortable, “Lilly is sleeping with Eli Navarro.” At his expression, she clarified, “You know, Weevil. The biker.”

“I know who he is,” said Logan shortly.

Veronica leaned forward and gently bit Logan’s ear. He jerked away in surprise.

“So you have a problem. See, Lilly figures you won’t find out, or that if you do, you’ll get mad and then take her back.” Logan looked away. “My problem is that I’m a virgin and Duncan is really, really dull. Lilly even calls him Dullnut.” Logan absently nodded, still not looking at her.

“So I figure, you and I can help each other, right? You can get back and Lilly and I can stop being a virgin. I mean, it’s a win-win.” She started kissing his ear and moved slowly down to his collarbone. He finally turned to look at her, a hard gleam in his eye.

“Are you sure you want this, Veronica? There’s no going back,” said Logan as he roughly put his arms around her and pulled her even closer to him.

In answer, Veronica pushed Logan down to the bed and proceeded to take her shirt off.

How do I love these little scenarios? Let me count the ways. Hint: it is more than five. *grin*

Cheerleader Veronica? So much fun and fluff. Veronica as a true 09er. Made me giggle.

Veronica as a witness to Wallace's humiliation. This one really made me appreciate the courage of our Veronica to stand alone and do what she thinks is right, to heck with everyone else. It also made me want to go cut Wallace down myself.

Veronica as stalker? Dark and strangely appealing. Perhaps she'd get a citation from the mayor for helping clean up Neptune. Or maybe this just appeals to the inner me that wants to yell "get away from my Logan" every time I see Kendall. Is that wrong?

Catatonic Veronica. Really dark, perhaps the darkest I've read in your fiction. Powerful and deeply sad.

Dream analysis Veronica? Have dream, will seduce. Seems like a good plan to me. And it certainly didn't take much to get Logan on the same page, did it? Is it hot in here or is it just this scene?

Job well done on all five. I loved 'em every one.

These little vignettes were so much fun!

...Logan threw his girlfriend a look. Veronica knew what that look meant. She was *so* going commando to the after-party.
I can just imagine that look :D We’ve seen glimpses of this Veronica in flashbacks of her happier days, so it’s not too hard to envision an even fluffier version of her.

Veronica that doesn’t have the courage to help Wallace is probably the one furthest from the Veronica that we know from the show.

The psycho stalker Veronica is not really that hard to imagine, either (to a certain degree, of course); she does have a tendency to overreact and obsess over things.

Catatonic Veronica is the one that makes me glad this is just a “5 things that never happened” fic.

I think Logan would be the happiest guy in Neptune, if leather wearing pre-series Veronica showed up in his bedroom. We know Veronica never lacked determination and will to succeed. If there was something (or someone) she wanted, she would do everything in her power to achieve her goal.

Great fic!

Hee. I loved this story! :D

I've been meaning to ask - what introduced you to this journal? Also, have you read For the Sake of a Friend? Just curious!

:D Thank you so much for your comments!

Well, since I'm kinda new to this fandom I went to the obvious source: Veronica Mars Fiction. I looked at the tags page and searched for members with the most entries--you were among them, so here I am.

I noticed your multichaptered fic and was very much intrigued after reading the prologue, but decided to read all of your oneshots first. I will definitely read For the Sake of a Friend, just as soon as I finish with your shorter stories.

I hope that's OK. And I promise I don’t have any *crazy stalker* tendencies, I just love to read good VM fiction :D

Heh. Just wondered! And no worries, I have no concerns about stalking - I've frequently been known to go through every entry of new journal I find - it's fun! LOL

I'm so glad you're enjoying these. :-) And read them in whatever order you like. :D Nice to meet you!
